Why vacate past wins? Not to condone PSU's behavior, of course, but their actions had nothing whatsoever to do with on-the-field performance. It's not like the players took steroids or otherwise cheated in a way that affected results.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04912866090220098208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1566606152366187003.post-60252643555813226662012-07-23T09:52:22.446-04:002012-07-23T09:52:22.446-04:00Reducing scholarships and allowing immediate trans...Reducing scholarships and allowing immediate transfer may actually be worse than the death penalty since it is going to decimate the football team from the inside out. The timing could be an issue this year for all but a few players, but it you will see a big change in the 2013 team. While there might be a small drop in attendance, they will still play games at Happy Valley the next 4 years. As much as the penalties seem like a cop out on the part of the NCAA, I think that Mark Emmert's comment that suspension of play would have a negative collateral impact on groups having nothing to do with this.TJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17446846735316278353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1566606152366187003.post-15652686777815949942012-07-23T09:30:50.905-04:002012-07-23T09:30:50.905-04:00The deal with 'The Death Penalty' is that ...The deal with 'The Death Penalty' is that it was created as a punishment for a team that gets busted deliberately breaking the rules while CURRENTLY already on probation.

SMU kept getting busted, yet kept breaking the rules and everyone knew it. There was no real deterrent at the time for teams that were already on probation to make sure that they would be on their best behavior.C-DUBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03174351144307921739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1566606152366187003.post-5705513616088186212012-07-23T08:04:28.417-04:002012-07-23T08:04:28.417-04:00One would hope for just punishment and I do believ...One would hope for just punishment and I do believe that should be the death penalty for that program forever, but this is the NCAA. Players robbing fans at gunpoint during halftime? Team-sponsored orgies with underage girls? A meth lab in the training room?Tom Madisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06406700238951229830noreply@blogger.com
