Here, Piggy, Piggy!

Of all the ridiculous pork that’s in the Obama Porkulus bill, these are my “favorite” bits of bacon. With comment…

$1.2 billion for summer jobs for youth
(And I’m sure all “dese yoot’s” will show up on time, and work hard. Uh huh.)

$200 million for workplace safety in USDA facilities
(What, have we been slaughtering livestock with nothing but Crocs and Bermuda shorts all this time?)

$224 million for International Boundary and Water Commission – U.S. and Mexico
(Drawing boundaries in the ocean is very expensive. You have to keep drawing, and re-drawing the damn lines all the time!)

$198 million to design and furnish the DHS headquarters

(One word: IKEA.)

$100 million for lead paint hazard reduction
(Because we just now, found out that lead paint is bad. Kids, don’t eat that!)

$275 million for flood prevention
(One word: move)

$255 million for “priority procurements” at Coast Guard (polar ice breaker)
(Ice breaker? What ice? I thought Ann Curry proved it had disappeared during sweeps week on NBC!)

$650 million for abandoned mine sites
(Leave them abandoned. Cost: $0)

$500 million for State and local fire stations
(Please note the words: “State” and “local.” Thank you.)

$307 million for constructing National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) office buildings
(About time we set some standards! Like is it “RBI” or “RBIs?” Or, “RsBI?” Plus, where these guys working out of temporary trailers until now?)

$160 million for “volunteers” at the Corp. for National and Community Service
(If you are a volunteer, doesn’t that imply “free?” And if it’s community “service” then why are you getting paid?)

In truth, this has been quite depressing to me the last few days. First, Wall Street and bankers looted our 401ks. Now, Democrats are looting the government coffers. How long until actual looting begins? Good times, good times.

  1. Well its our time to rape pillage and plunder....when your boys from texas was having there waw with us you sure didnt mind did you....boyee.

  2. Wow, Charles, you sure are a tool, aren't you? $1.2 billion for youth summer jobs. yikes. Although, your average "youth" has lots of disposable income... This might be the only good thing in the package. I sure hope mommy and daddy don't need help paying the rent/mortgage.

  3. The architect of this new era of big government? History has a sense of humor, for the man who laid the foundations for the world Obama now rules is George W. Bush, who moved to bail out the financial sector last autumn with $700 billion.

  4. Mark and Charles must want to be in the Washington D.C. Elite crowd so they can have a special table at Chili's. I suppose you two also support the woman in Florida who BEGGED Obama for a new kitchen, bathroom, and "small" car? Pathetic.

  5. Hey Idiot (no, not you Czabe; you're brilliant. I'm addressing charles),

How does saying, "Just because W did it means we can do it" make it right? Or prudent? Or fiscally responsible? Spending big bucks during a time of financial crisis never, ever, has proven to work. As a simple example: Let's say you're broke. Do you a) stop spending money, reevaluate your finances, and carefully and prudently work your way out of the situation; or b) spend more on crap you don't need and hope your creditors don't find you? Granted, this analogy is a little simplified, but what happens when we have to pay the bill on the trillions we spend? Ever see a whole country file bankruptcy? Not pretty.

It seems the only justification the democrats (Pelosi) have in the gigantic spending bill is to simply say, "It's our turn now," and these partisan politics are what got us in the mess in the first place. I'm not saying Republicans are/were any better. Wasn't it Congress (Democrats and Republicans), that group of brilliant minds, that said, "Hey, banks, we'll incentivize you to loan money to people that don't really qualify--what could happen because real estate prices will always go up?" If it were up to me, we'd clean house of everyone whose been in Washington the past 10 years and start over--could new representatives do any worse than what's been done?

The new administrations slogan of "Change" is proving to be a prophesy, as "change" is all that will be left of our 401k's when they're through with us!

  7. This is a gross simplification of each plan's actual details. Comments like "$275 million for flood prevention (One word: move)" are stunningly ignorant.

  9. This is all Lincoln's fault.

Seriously. If we had a nice confederacy of states instead of this bloated attrocity of a federation, you wouldn't have to point out that the Local Fire Department is a local fire department...
