Utter, Complete, Humiliating Defeat

About the only lasting phrase we'll all repeat about this referee debacle is this: ".... and the real refs were back to work in 3 days."

This will go down as one of the most spectacular sports business defeats ever, something akin to the military blunder of Napoleon's decision to invade Russia.
Napoleon entered Moscow to find that it had been abandoned by the Russians. Those that remained were starving and had begun looting food. There were no officials to offer the surrender of the city and no food to feed the massive army. Soon the French army began looting for themselves and somewhere in this chaos a fire was started. The fire destroyed four fifths of the city of Moscow and left Napoleon and his army with no shelter, food or plunder. Napoleon had not even received a formal victory and, being a pompous little man, this annoyed the hell out of him.
With no supplies and the heater in his 2CV still not fixed, Napoleon was forced to withdraw from Russia. Of his 600,000 strong ‘Grand Army’, only about 40,000 limped back into France to quell a revolt that had taken place in his absence. The Nepalese, Austrian and Prussian armies all ran off home swearing that they thought it was a bad idea from the start. This defeat sent a message across Europe Napoleon was not invincible, and with his army now crippled from frostbite he was open to attack.

  1. Whatever Roger, still not going to watch. Already have plans to do other things. No chance of changing those plans. Going to go catch a bunch of tasty bluegills and give them to a friend going through chemotherapy for melanoma cancer. The drugs make almost everything but fish taste like metal. The guy is 43 with 4 kids. Want to talk about travesty and priorities? That is where mine are at. Certainly not keeping the NFL anywhere near the top 50 of my priorities. Too little, too late Roger, Mr. Jones, Mr. Kraft, etc...

  3. Hilario Czabe, nice pull. For the record, Pats fans are as pissed as GB about this travishamockery, and not just the FG. ALL the BAD calls added up to BAD-tainted results.

  4. I like how they were worried about the "competitive advantage" the weekend games would have over the Thursday night game if the real refs couldn't make it in time, but they aren't worried about the "competitive advantage" those who had major ugly stupid bad calls for or against them. And I'm still not convinced that the NFL Management won't manage to steer this bus off yet another cliff.

  5. Hey Czabe. Check your sources. The Citroen 2CV is a car. Kind of doubt the heater dying stopped an invasion

  6. Yay the crappy "regular" refs are back!! Everybody celebrate!!

@Jimmy - don't think you're doing something noble just because you are claiming to not watch football anymore. From your previous posts you claim to not be all that huge of a fan anyway so the NFL doesn't care whether you watch or not. Filling up the stadiums is what's most important and they had no problem doing that with the "scab" refs.

  7. I was a huge fan at one time. But ticket prices, rule changes that significantly shorten the number of plays, and an indifference to fairness via the officiating has pushed me away. I am not noble. I agree. I may someday watch again, but it will be a long time and I will certainly do my best to avoid the products of the sponsors.

  8. Boom. Roasted. I thought the replacement refs were done?

Yeah, we were told by the retard tboners of the world that all was going be right when the "Real" refs came back. Fuckheads like him were convinced all was going to be right with world. Oh, to be the fly on the wall in his house last night with the Sproales non-fumble, you know he shit all over himself. They missed a complete debacle by a make up the crap call "hold" penalty on the FG, only to see the kicker choke. But don't worry, it WILL happen before the end of the season and it will be a complete and utter FAIL for ......the NFL and Goddell once again, this time for caving to overpaid part-time union hacks.

Thank God for this GB-NO game to put it all in perspective, crystal clear.

I still like Czabe, very entertaining and nice to have a GOP sportscaster around. But on this one, he has no idea what he's talking about. Lord football is bigger than the refs, replacement or otherwise and no one will remember this will the "real" guys blow a game this year.

  9. You could even hear it in the refs voice after the FG, "First and ten!!!! A shitload of overemphasis which said "Thank you NO for saving our inept asses"....
