Wake Up, Barry

They say success has a thousand fathers and failure is an orphan.

This is true.

What happened wrong in the BP oil well spill, is enough to fill non-stop Congressional investigations for years. And I am sure it will.

Lot of blame. Lot of oil. Not going to touch either one.

Obama is our self-described "ass kicker" in chief, so let's just see how ol' arugula-mom-jeans-foof-thrower is doing.

Sucks.

And you thought Bush was bad in Katrina. Ha.

Initially after this disaster, I gave Obama a pass on criticism. Bush was vilified absurdly for things well beyond his control, and I wasn't going to be a hypocrite and rip Obama for not canceling every little event on his schedule just to pick up tar blobs on the beach.

But at this point, holy crap, Barry, pull your head out of your ass dude!

I will blast Obama for one thing, and one thing only. This is it.

THE GUY HADN'T MET WITH THE CEO OF BP UNTIL JUST THIS WEEK!

Are you f'ing kidding me?

Something like this, our president can only do so much. He's not Aquaman. But not having run a country myself, here is what I think I would have done in Week 1.

a. Tell my staff to bring me the 5 most expert, independent deep sea oil drilling engineers.
b. Tell the CEO of BP to get his ass to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave ASAP.
c. Have one big fucking meeting in which, I, as president, make sure to remind everybody around the table: "Look, don't bullshit me!"

Take all of the info you gather, and get a plan. Don't piss off BP, because you now need their ass to help you fix this. But don't coddle them either.

So why then, didn't our country's CEO, Barry, decide to meet with BP's CEO for something this basic?

Oh, because our Teleprompter King was too "smart" for that ol' ploy.

"My experience is when you talk to a guy like a BP CEO, he's going to say all the right things to me. I'm not interested in words. I'm interested in actions."

REACT: Oh, your "experience?" Your experience at, what, exactly? Community organizing? Christ. What a joke. The same guy who wants to have dialogue with foreign dictators, suddenly doesn't think a meeting with the CEO of BP will be productive as the entire Gulf of Mexico turns into a fudge sundae.

You know who would have been a real ace of an asset in the White House right now?

A vice president with executive experience, from the state with the most oil production in the country.

Oh, wait. Never mind.

But she's stupid, and Barry's smart, or at least that's what one sports writer I know argued with me during the election. A sportswriter whose big resume item is ghostwriting a book with Shaq.

He was beyond certain that becoming governor of Alaska - and running the state - took virtually no brains, but that covering the NBA made him an intellectual.

Whatever.

I shudder to think what Barry will be like when a real crisis emerges. Something a little more complicated, fast moving, and difficult than a big oil zit on the ocean floor.

I hope we never have to find out.

She quit during her first term as Governor.

  2. Couldn't agree more. I was willing to give this 'change' group a chance, let them get some ideas together and execute on them. Hell, I even argued with my more conservative buddies that you can't judge based on a single year. Any CEO in America that ran a business like this would be ousted in no time.

I read the other day that government payouts are now greater than private industry. Where is the common sense any more? If the government spends more than it takes in, that's not sustainable! Common fucking sense...

Our country is tanking fast. The lazy people have won and I have to support them.

This oil deal is just the latest example of complete ineptitude in basic management skills. I don't care if the dude is black or brown or white - he's a tool. He has no clue what is going on.

Czabe, your last comment is the scariest to me of all. What if the shit really goes down with some terrorist attack? Lord help us.

More than anything, it makes me sad to think of what my kids will have to grow up with. I don't see any hope right now or have any confidence with anyone in charge (Republican or Democrat). Maybe that fat dude from NJ that at least has the balls to say enough is enough.

I bet if they came out and said "You know...we are just never going agree. If you like the constitution and your freedom and want to earn your lot in life then go here...the rest of you make a new set of rules where everyone is equal and the government runs the show in all areas...you go over there" we'd have an even split in this country.

I know some people don't like you talking politics Czabe but I enjoy reading what you have to say.

  3. Spot on, Czabe. Why would the Disaster-in-Chief want to meet with the heretofore successful head of a multinational conglomerate with thousands of employees? That'd be like a little league manager comparing notes with the manager of a World Series winning team. Can you say "inferiority complex"? I would let Sarah Palin put her money where her mouth is and put her in charge of the task force for the plug-up and clean-up operations. How'd that be for "reaching out". But our little Barry would probably be afraid that she'd succeed and outshine him.
It seems that our little Barry is far more successful at destroying things (such as the economy) than he is at fixing or building things.

  4. While you may have a point about Obama's performance in this BP mess, you destroy any intellectual credibility you have when you say that lil miss 'you betcha' would be an asset in the White House. Beyond throwing out 'fat cats in Washington' platitudes to her adoring throngs and banging out hefty speaking fees, I've not seen anything out of her that would make me think she could handle this. Just because her state produces oil from surface drilling does not make her an expert on deep water drilling.

Emeril has been in New Orleans for years, he's a lot closer to deep sea drilling than Palin, let's get him to take care of it - Bang!

Agree or disagree, I appreciate your work Czabe and hope to hear you on the air somewhere soon!!!

  5. "My experience is when you talk to a guy like a BP CEO, he's going to say all the right things to me. I'm not interested in words. I'm interested in actions."

    Substitute "Politician" for "BP CEO".

  6. Czabe are we going to lose your witty commentary to Breitbart.com or The Wall Street Journal - Let's hope not - nice post - please keep this stuff coming.

  7. Government "bailouts" are good when? When a private (publicly-held) company can't get their shit together? You have spoken out of both sides of your own mouth for so long, it's gotten old, Czabe.

  8. Since the financial meltdown, the gov't is more focued on covering up problems than solving them.

Case in point. Do you know why the stock market zoomed 200 points at the open yesterday? Because the FED had Goldman buy half a billion in S&P futures at the market open. The FED decided that the market needed a boost and Goldman has been doing this since the market meltdown. Goldman can't lose. If the purchase goes up, they repay the FED and keep the profits. If the invesmtent goes south, the FED eats the loss. Do you wonder why Goldman makes money trading every single day? It's because they invest our tax dollars to prop the market and the FED eats any losses.

O is more concerned with how to make things appear under control than actually getting things under control.

  9. Don't worry about nitwits saying you're losing "intellectual credibility" by mentioning the obvious.

All this event has made clear is that one can trust the common sense of a former stay-at-home Mom from Alaska more than a dimwit U of Chicago professor.

I think it was Buckley who said he would entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University. You left us too early Bill.

  10. Czabe,

    Amen!! Amen!! Amen!!

Our country is being run by an administration full of complete idiots!! And Barry is the idiot in chief!!

Oh, and a Marxist-that always helps!!

  11. So it's "clear" that we can trust Palin's "common sense"? I'm conservative, but listening to her speak off the cuff is frightening. If you're pinning the hopes of our country to her, God help us all.

Yet, he'll talk with N. Korea, Iran, Hamas, etc...

  13. This guy is not only an amateur, he's clueless . . . a moratorium on drilling further kills our economy and does nothing to solve the problem of this oil spill . . . shit happens . . . and it always will!!

  14. And then the criminal investigation thing is just amateurish and out-and-out dumb. Q: What's the quickest way to get BP to clam up, cut lines of communication, lawyer-up every word that comes from their executive offices, and otherwise go AWOL? A: The President lets it be known that a criminal investigation is underway.

I mean, *come on* people. You need cooperation of the highest degree - there will be plenty of time for assigning blame once the HOLE IN THE OCEAN IS ADDRESSED. Focus. For. A. Minute.

  16. Czabe, you forgot to mentioned the main reason Bush was blamed for many things about Katrina was he put a complete idiot in charge of FEMA as a political payback.
