"Don't Be No Cloud on a Sunny Day, Mon!"

Hilarious.

And course, for the professionally offended: "horrific."
“It’s pretty horrific,” says Ricki Fairley-Brown, president of the multicultural marketing agency Dove Marketing. “Why do they have a white guy from Minnesota faking a Jamaican accent?”
Even more troubled by the spot is Rochelle Newman-Carrasco, chief hispanic marketing strategist at Walton Isaacson, an African-American, Gay/Lesbian and Hispanic agency. “What happens in this ad is that the culture becomes a punch line, and that is offensive.”
Pop cultural guru Barbara Lippert is not amused, either. “It made me uncomfortable to see all of those white people in an office setting doing this,” she says. “I found it offensive.”
They are still booing black soccer players in Europe, for God's sake! And here, we're worried about... this. And the "Rooney Rule."

If this is the state of legitimate conversation in America - the MOST open, free, multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-religious, and progressive minded country in the world - then we are doomed.

Doomed.

  1. Jamaican officials are in contact with VW about a partnership. They find it flattering.

  2. All the guy does is speak in an accent? And it is not Jamaican so much as Caribbean. Do a Youtube search for Collie Buddz, he is a white reggae singer from Aruba who talks just like that. Did I miss something in the commercial where they specifically target Jamaican's? Even so, there are white people there that talk like that. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

  3. My wife's boss is as Jamaican as the day is long...and he's whiter than someone off the damned Mayflower. What it shows is ignorance of the fact that color does not equal nationality...but then again, I'm not making money off racism like these "agencies" are. Oh wait, that's line 2. White guys on the phone are pissed at EVERY BLACK AND LATINO COMEDY ROUTINE IN THE HISTORY OF MAN.

  4. Can I now be offended that the Jamaicans field a bobsled team because they are trying to act like the lilly-white euros that like to push sleds down ice covered chutes?

  5. You pegged it oh so perfectly Czabe with the label of "professionally offended."

There is a scum in our society that makes a living by trying to dictate to everyone else what they should or should not find to be offensive. I wish I could dictate to them a directive to literally choke on their very next breath and die.

  6. Dear Ricki Fairley-Brown and Barbara Lippert,

Please dismount your tall steeds. You're both jokes.

    Sincerly,
    The rest of society

Where were these people when the Jimmy Fallon/Capital One ads came out with his costumes and accents. Remember the one in which he says, "Fifty percent-a more dough!" with a Super Mario mustache? Where was this group when that happened? I guess it didn't fit their business model.

    1. I neglected to include Rochelle Newman-Carrasco. All three are asshats, especially Ricki. “Why do they have a white guy from Minnesota faking a Jamaican accent?”, she said. I guess in her world, accents shouldn't be allowed, especially if it's a white guy from Minnesota. Why is it important that his skin is white? It's all part of their goal to keep people separated to profit from racism or alleged racism.

  7. Whoa Whoa whoa Rochelle sweety! Save some moral outrage for some other somehow down-trodden put upon groups! What a load of bullshit. So sick and tired of people feeling the need to tell other who should be offended.

  8. About the only thing I truly find offensive is when people feel the need to tell me they are offended. It's condescending that these people think I give a shit about what they think.

  9. I agree with twister929 - I'm offended that anyone believes I actually CARE if they're offended. Go cry in your soup and keep your thoughts to yourself.

  10. Blacks and or Jamaicans aren't offended by this ad. This is a case of white people creating and using a vehicle simply to spew their anger. The commercial is innocuous and funny, don't use it for your own personal gripes.

  11. I've lived in the Caribbean, and there are people of European, East Asian, and Indian ancestry who speak with that accent. Shame on those so called diversity experts for not having a clue about the diversity of that region.

  12. I think this is a huge compliment to the Caribbean, no? It shows the island culture as laid back and cool, vs. uptight whitey. I'd rather be laid back and cool, with a kickass accent.

  13. Walton AND Isaacson can both kiss my white ass! Those lezbo feminists are just pissed that THEIR ad agency isn't as creative

  14. Ironically, people claim to enjoy Bob Marley's music because someone said you are supposed to.

  16. I think the commercial is fantastic! I love the way the people talk on that Island. If I went to Jamaica for one week I would come back talking just like them. I pick up accents so quick. Hey! Ya'll don't be a cloud on a sunny day! LMAO...

  17. That article is offensive!!!
I Europe we don't boo black soccerplayers off the course! And US of A is not the free, open and progressive country in the world. You are NO LONGER free, open and progressive. You have let your politicians destroy that.

The ad is very fun and hilarious. It is actually stating everything USA has lost the last 30-40 years. USA should follow the ad and lossen up.
