Okay, just so everyone is clear. This show is STAGED AS HELL!
I get it. And sadly, they are starting to really stretch the limits of stupid with each episode.
That said, I love each of the characters in the clan, and don't doubt that there is a genuine kernel of redneck truth underneath all of them.
So if you've never seen it, here's a quick primer.
Don't need to see it, don't want to see it. I could tell from the commercials just how stupid it was and it would be a waste time when I could be viewing something much better.
ReplyDeleteCzabe, doesn't take a genius to see that things are staged/planned, but it's probably the one show that my wife and I and our 5 yr old son can sit down and all watch together, enjoy, and laugh out loud together. You can't go wrong with that.
ReplyDeleteSteve,
ReplyDeleteThese shows are all staged. Do you actually think those so-called treasure they haggle over on Storage Wars was not planted? Would a snicky like Brandi be seen at a trashy auction?
I think Lloyd hits the point for me too. It's a show the whole family can watch. Funny, cute, innocent. Laughs for dad, safe for my daughters. Even the Missus gets a chuckle. I would liken it to a "live action" cartoon show.
ReplyDeletePlus.... the filming and production values of the show are outstanding. Very clean shots, looks very nice.
Reality T.V. doesn't mean it is real, it is a clause in Union contracts that allows shows to be filmed and written by Non-Union employees.
ReplyDeleteThat is why there is so much of it on the Tube.
All Reality T.V. is scripted.
Yes, as a Southerner it's always nice to see stereotypes in full force for the rest of the country to mock. When do we get the opposite version? When do we see "Cabrini Green Gables" and the wonderful vat of shiftless drug dealing Democrats on the screen? We won't. Why? Because it's offensive to our PC palates. This is equally as offensive. Get asked, when in the Northeast enough times, if you stopped to get shoes on the way and it starts to get irritating. The day this show goes the way of Jersey Shore, the better.
